New Fanfiction.Net is live!

 

Well, what do you know? 

New.Fanfiction.net is working now. Last I checked there was just an announcement and 40 accounts given to beta testers back in like 2024 or early 2025.

It's more visual than I thought it would be. Much different from the classic version of the site.

So far both are working, but everything is mirrored automatically from the old site to the new one without you having to do anything.

It does look a lot like Wattpad, however, and some features of the profile in the new site are more "social media" in function, like who you follow and so.

Something I didn't find that thrilling is that you can't read stories in the new site unless you're logged in. But on the other hand, you can log in with your old mail and password; and at least for now, you can have active links in your profile, which is awesome as I can link this blog from there.

I imagine they're going to phase out the old site at some point and just leave the new one active. Well, the old site has been around for over twenty years now, it's time for a new one, I guess.

Either way, I think I'll do what my wife is doing and archive all my stuff as ebooks, just to make sure nothing is lost if the old site is taken down in the futre and that affects what's on the new one.

But to be fair, everything in my profile was mirrored correctly so nothing has been lost yet.

Feeling interesting about how the site evolves going forward, to be honest.
